  JEAN GOGUEN OTHER ARTISTS

Jean Goguen was born in Montreal in 1927 and died in the same city in 1989. In the 1950s and 60s Goguen was an active member of the intellectual circles that dominated the arts milieu of Quebec. In 1955 he signed the Plasticien Manifesto and in 1959 his works were presented alongside those of Guido Molinari, Fernand Leduc and Claude Tousignant in the exhibition Art abstrait. During the 1960s, as a professor, Goguen continued to develop the aesthetic and theoretical ideas that first arose from within his artistic practice. Goguen taught art at Sir George Williams University, known today as Concordia University.
