Geordie Shepherd was born in 1968 in Orangeville, Ontario and received his BFA in 1991 from Concordia University in Montreal. In 1995 he attended the Banff Arts Centre and received the Brucebo Canadian Scandinavian Travel award. In 2004 he completed his MFA at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque and recently received the Best of Four award in the "Internal Illuminations" show at the Art Foundry in St Charles, Missouri. His work, "The Olic," depicts a fictive people who possess extrasensory perceptions of other people and the land and was inspired by a mixture of North West Coast Canadian Art, anthropology readings and the artist’s own imagination.
