Sefi Amir is a Canadian painter based in England. She was born in Montreal in 1977 and studied art both in London and Montreal. Amir's work explores serious themes - love, loneliness, fear - but always with an element of humour. Choosing from an eccentric agglomeration of characters, locations and scenarios, her paintings seek to unite diverse elements into a credible mythology whereby normally docile reality is aroused, disturbed and returned to the realm of the idea. Sefi's work has been exhibited in Canada and the United Kingdom.
